Allen recentlypremiered his new concerto, "Out of the Darkness / Into the Light" with the Hannaford Silver Street Band in Toronto. The HSSB is a tradition English style brass band in regards to orchestration and is one of the few professional brass bands in existence. The 17 minute commisioned work was enthusiatically received. No tomatos were thrown. No beatings took place. And for you trumpet geeks out there - he nailed the high 'G' at the end.

The USAF Academy Band,(Lt Col Larry H. Lang - Conductor), has released their new recording "Windscapes". Incuded on the CD is another Vizzutti commission called, "Jazzscape". Allen was asked to write a piece for jazz sextet and wind ensemble and the 3 movement piece was born. Other composers represented on the disc include Bruce Broughton and Gustav Holst.
