Allen Vizzutti
 

It was announced in January that Allen Vizzutti has been named one of four recipients of the Montana Governor's Achievement Awards. The official presentation will be in Helena Montana on February 8, 2008. A reception in his honor will be held in his home town of Missoula Montana on March 17, 2008. Trumpet players around the world were heard to have said, "What? Where?"

The new "Vizzutti" model Yamaha Bb trumpet is now officially available. The 9335VS was launched October 13th in New York City at the Yamaha Artist's Services performance hall on 5th avenue. The days activities included a workshop by Allen, another by John Hagstrom and an evening recital of trumpet and piano music performed by Allen and his collaborator Laura Vizzutti. John Hagstrom joined them on stage for a duet version of Del Staiger's "Carnival of Venice" as a grand finale. Wish you could have been there!

Concierto Mexicano , a 5 movement work by Allen Vizzutti was premiered this past season by the Greater Bridgeport Symphony Orchestra, followed by performances with the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra with Allen as soloist. The concerts were a smashing success and it was said that afterward concert goers were overwhelmed by a craving for enchiladas and old Rafael Mendez recordings. The Conceirto is scheduled next in May with the Idaho Falls Symphony Orchestra along with Allen's composition for orchestra, "Sleeping Mountain".

Allen has been comissioned to compose a piece for wind ensemble and jazz soloists by the United States Air Force Band in Colorado Springs, CO. The premier will be in the fall of 2008.

He is also writing a new 14 trumpet feature to be played at the 'Night Of Principals' concert at this years ITG conference in Banff.
